This course is for those who desire a professional career in the dance industry or those looking to improve their dance technique for personal gain.
Applicants should have a strong basic training in at least two disciplines:
Jazz, Contemporary, Classical ballet, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre.
Natural ability will also be highly regarded if the judging panel can see a lot of potential. The most important quality Dance Force is looking for in an applicant is passion, enthusiasm and a drive to always want more from themselves as a dancer.

The course gives students a great introduction to full-time training and the performing arts industry. This course is only one day a week so students can complete this while still at school. If you are serious about becoming a professional, this course is a wonderful to start your career, while gaining points towards you High School Certificate. This is 90% practical in studio time to ensure students are gaining advanced skills and technique in all genres of the performing arts industry.
This allows students to attend as part of their schooling and not interfere with their outside training if they currently train with another studio in the afternoons.
The Certificate III is delivered over a period of 2 years, split into 8 terms.
We understand that formal is such an important part of students schooling life so we will be holding this for all students in the Academic Excellence, Certificate IV and Diploma courses.
This course is for those who desire a professional career in the dance industry and want to complete their yr 12 education. Applicants should have a strong basic training in at least two disciplines: Jazz, Contemporary, Classical ballet, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre Applicants must be motivated and driven in both dancing and education. Natural ability will also be highly regarded if the judging panel can see a lot of potential. Our performing arts high school is designed for students who are dedicated and passionate about a career in the performing arts industry while still completing their education.Dance Force works alongside the Student Tutor Network. This ensures small class sizes that gives students the individual attention needed to achieve the best academic results possible. Students will have one teacher per 5-10 students and class times will be scheduled into and around their full-time dance training.Students who are accepted into our Academic Excellence / full-time training program must independently enrol with distance education. We suggest Cairns School of Distance Education, however, if you wish to use another institution please advise with us upon enrolment.There are different options for Vocational Education Training (VET) that will combine with your education training. This will depend on a student’s dance experience, ability and capability. If successful in your audition, staff will contact you to organise a meeting with the Director to discuss the best option for your child.
Industry Fridays. Students get the privilege of an interstate guest teacher being flown in weekly. This allows students to make valuable connections as well as learn from the choreographers knowledge and experience.
The Certificate IV combines both practical and theoretical subjects (Units of competency), which will conclude with end of term assessments & reports. Assessments are competency based. Competency must be achieved in all units in order to gain the Certificate IV in Performing Arts (Dance). Students are also assessed on attendance and professional conduct. 80% attendance and competency in professional conduct must also be achieved in order to gain the Certificate IV in Performing Arts (Dance).

The course prepares students for real life situations within the dance industry such as: working as a team, respecting each other, having a professional attitude, turning up on time to class, being polite to your teachers and choreographers, general work ethics, coping with pressure and working to deadlines. These are all valuable skills in any workplace
Dancers will be given access to some of Australia's best photographers and videographers to ensure they have appropriate head and body shots as well as showreels for auditions.
The Certificate IV in Performing Arts (Dance) is aimed at preparing students for a professional career in Dance as a Performer, Choreographer and/or Dance Instructor based on their individual abilities. Once graduated, you will be able to pursue opportunities with Commercials, Musical Theatre, Film & Television, Overseas placements, Contemporary Dance companies, Cruise Ships, Stage productions, Promotional and Corporate Events, Choreography and more. The course prepares students for real life situations within the dance industry such as: working as a team, respecting each other having a professional attitude, turning up on time to class, being polite to your teachers and choreographers, general work ethics, coping with pressure and working to deadlines, These are all valuable skills in any workplace.
